Council of Scientfic & Industrial Research (CSIR), established in 1942, is the largest research and development (R&D) organization in India with its chain of national laboratories in all fields of Science and Technology. The research and development activities of CSIR include Aerospace Engineering, Chemicals, Environment, Food, Leather, Life Science, Metallurgy, Mining, Ocean Sciences, Petroleum and Structural Engineering,etc.

The CSIR-HQ KRC / Library has print and electronic information resources comprising of books, journals, and CDs in Science, Technology and Management. Other important collection includes annual reports, brochures and pamphlets of CSIR laboratories. Thus, it plays an important role in providing information on scientific and industrial research to the Council staff.
